Upper Limb Casting

Workshop Description

This workshop is primarily aimed at Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists working in Hand Therapy. It will provide the knowledge base and practical skills for use of casting materials (fibreglass casting tape and softcast semi-rigid casting tape) to manage common upper extremity impairments through therapeutic casts and splints.

Participants will learn to identify appropriate candidates for casting, problem-solve which materials and techniques are appropriate for various clinical presentations, and evaluate progress.  The workshop will include multiple opportunities to learn and apply hands-on practical skills (padding, moulding, positioning, cast removal etc) which can be carried over to the clinical setting immediately after workshop completion.

"This can be attended remotely via Zoom. For the practical components of the workshop,
it is preferable for attendees to have someone to practice on during the sessions"
