Workshop Description
This workshop provides a comprehensive review of different types of wounds and management strategies. Course participation will increase your knowledge, skills, ability and confidence regarding wound healing, wound care, wound dressings, suture removal etc
The second part of the workshop is dedicated to hand therapy scar management. It will include a review of scar biology and normal vs abnormal scar development, with a focus on those scars that may pose barriers to function. Information is provided on conservative management provided by hand therapists, including scar assessment, intervention, and outcome measures. We will address the assessment and management of all types of scars seen by hand therapists, not just burn scars.

At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Apply knowledge from the workshop to assess and evaluate upper limb wounds and scars for clients
- Apply knowledge from the workshop to assess and perform appropriate suture removal, wound management and scar management techniques
- Use clinical reasoning to interpret the assessment results and formulate a diagnosis of wound and scar conditions
- Formulate a treatment plan of specific wound and scar management interventions to optimise client outcomes
